Our visits: So far 7 visits with overnight stays in August 1994, April 1997, September 1999, October 2011, October 2014, March 2016, April 2022, plus several visits without overnight stays. The last time we were there was in May 2023.

Moab

Description: In the mid-19th century, the area of today's city served mainly as a crossing over the Colorado River. It was not until the end of the century that Mormons founded the first small settlement.

Today Moab is clearly dominated by tourism. Not only the two national parks Arches and Canyonlands, but the whole area around the city attracts countless people to spend their vacations here. Hiking, climbing, rafting and off road driving are just a few of the possibilities that are offered here.

Our rating: Moab is great and we like the small town very much. This is because it is also super conveniently located and there is a lot to experience in the area. The only really big downer are the exorbitant prices that you have to pay for lodging here. Unfortunately, you can usually only find affordable rooms in the winter months. This means rooms that have at least a somewhat fair price-performance ratio.

Tourism infrastructure in Moab

Situated in the middle of fantastic nature, Moab is a small town that you can't ignore. It offers an ideal base for exploration. You will find all the necessary infrastructure such as hotels, restaurants, grocery stores, car and bike rentals, etc.. If the offer in Moab is too expensive for you, you can also find other small towns in the area in Green River (north) or Monticello and Blanding (south).

Hotels

Description: Even though the hotels we stayed at so far were very different, we can recommend them all. All were clean and offered everything we expect for a nice stay.

Positive: Breakfast included in the room rate (Hampton, Inca Inn, Comfort Suites). The breakfast at the Inca Inn is much more basic compared to the other two. Very nice large and super equipped rooms (Hampton Inn, Comfort Suites).
Negative: Room amenities very basic (Motel 6). Bathroom very tiny without storage facilities (Inca Inn).

Our rating: Ultimately, the cleanliness of a hotel room is the most important thing for us. Even if the features of the hotels we visited were very different, they were all clean and ok and therefore also good for us. Sure, the rooms in the Motel 6 are very basic, but they are usually the cheapest. So if you are satisfied with that and can do without breakfast in the hotel, you will find a cheap alternative here to stay in Moab. Unfortunately, this does not always apply, because even the Motel 6 is often so expensive that it is not really worth the requested price for us. But ultimately, the decision about this is up to everyone.

Restaurants and a coffee

Moab Brewery

686 S Main St, Moab, UT 84532
HOMEPAGE

Description: The Moab Brewery is a restaurant and the only microbrewery in Moab. It serves mainly American cuisine such as burgers, sandwiches and steaks. There is also a large bar area and a gift store.

4/5

Our rating: After a day in nature, this is a good restaurant to recharge your batteries. You can argue about American beer, but there is delicious food in a casual atmosphere. It's always busy here and sometimes you have to wait for a table. We can recommend the Brewery.

Moab Food Truck Park

39 W 100 N, Moab, UT 84532
HOMEPAGE

Description: As the name suggests, the Food Truck Park is a collection of food trucks that offer a wide range of food for both the smaller and larger appetite. During our visit in April 2022, you could get everything from burgers to coffee. The food trucks are arranged in a circle. In between there is a large, covered seating area.

4/5

Our rating: We really liked the food truck park. The offer is varied so that there should be something for every taste. Everything we tried tasted good. Especially if you don't have much time and just want to eat something quickly, this is a great option. We would recommend the food truck park.

Moab Coffee Roasters

90 N Main St, Moab, UT 84532
HOMEPAGE

Our rating:  The Moab Coffee Roasters are located in the middle of Moab right next to the post office. Every time we wanted to get a coffee here it was full and we had to stand in line for quite a while. That this is a good sign we could tell, because we also liked the coffee very much. Besides coffee, there were also pastries and other sweet treats. In addition to some tables inside, there is also a relatively large outdoor area where you can enjoy your coffee in the sun.
