Victoria Beach Tower - Laguna Beach

Description: Even though the Victoria Beach Tower has the nickname Pirate Tower , it has nothing to do with pirates. The tower was built in 1926 by William E. Brown, together with the house above. It served as an access to the ocean. The house has changed hands many times, in the meantime it once belonged to Bette Midler. But no matter who owns the house, the tower is private property and may not be entered. Moreover, the tower can be reached only at low tide, because to get to it you have to climb over the rocks on the coast.

One thing should be said about the parking situation. Access to the beach is via a staircase from a residential area. The whole residential area seems very sophisticated and tourists are not valued here. There are "no parking" signs everywhere. The only parking lot we could discover is right at the beginning of the stairs. However, you can park here only 10 minutes and that is not enough for the way to the tower and back. It would be better to look for a parking spot on Highway 1 and walk.

Our rating: Small, very nice location directly on the ocean. We liked it very much and can recommend the place. In addition, during the drive you also have the opportunity to take a look at a few very nice houses.
