Babylon Arch

The drive in detail: From Interstate 15, take Exit 22 and drive north on Main Street through the small town of Leeds. After about 1.5mi you turn right into a small dirt road. Coordinate: Latitude 37.250045; Longitude -After about 3mi you reach the Sand Cove Trailhead. Here you can park your car. If you and your car are up to it, you can drive an other half mile to the Babylon Arch Trailhead. This shortens the hike accordingly.
Since the dirt road is in parts very sandy and you drive downhill until the trailhead, it is advisable to have a 4-wheel drive for the route. Especially on the way back cars frequently get stuck in the sand.

The hike in detail: The hike is not particularly long and not technically difficult, but it still has its challenges. On the one hand, it is not always easy to find the right way and on the other hand, you have to climb down a very steep sand hill to the arch, which you then have to climb up again on the way back.

Trail length: approx. 2.2mi
Altitude difference: approx. 445feet
Time needed: 2 hours
Difficulty level: moderate

Our rating: We liked the hike here quite a bit. The surroundings are beautiful and you can definitely discover a lot in the rock labyrinth. It was really fun to hike around. Even if walking in the sand is sometimes really exhausting, you are rewarded with a really pretty arch. If you have half a day to spare and a suitable car, you will certainly get your money's worth here.
