View from the Visitor Center to the Red Rocks

Red Rock Canyon

Description: Red Rock Canyon was established in 1990 and is managed by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management). The park with its red rocks serves primarily as a recreational area for Las Vegas. It offers, hiking trails, picnic areas numerous opportunities for climbing and horseback riding.

During our visit, we hiked the short Lost Rock Canyon Trail.

Trail length: 0.7mi roundtrip
Altitude difference: 66ft
Time needed: 1 hour
Difficulty level: easy

Our rating: We visited the park in May 2013 and found it quite nice. If you do a southwest tour and know the spectacular national parks, this is perhaps not so impressive, but to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, the park is quite nice and suitable.
