Note: On dirt roads, road conditions can change constantly. Therefore, we strongly recommend that everyone check the road conditions before each trip. We do not recommend driving on unpaved roads before, during or shortly after rain or snowfall.

Ohio Pass

Description: Ohio Pass is about 23mi long and connects Kebler Pass with the small town of Gunnison. About half of the road is paved. We drove up Ohio Pass from Gunnison in October 2018. Despite the rain in the days before, the road was in very good condition. In dry conditions, it should not be a major problem for any SUV.

First you drive almost half the distance on a plain always towards the mountains, witch offer great views on yellow glowing trees. Especially in autumn when the trees are changing color and the sun is shining, it is really an experience. After a while you drive up the pass, almost the whole time through the forest. Shortly before you arrive at the crossroads at Kebler Pass you reach a pretty plateau and the view opens up.

Time needed: 2 hours

Our rating: Quite a great route, especially in autumn. In conjunction with the Kebler Pass, you can spend a beautiful day in the mountains and revel in colors. Absolute recommendation.
