Our visits: During our visits to the southwest of the USA, we have often driven over the Boulder Mountains. Therefore, it is not possible to reconstruct an exact number of visits. Our last trip was in April 2022.
Boulder Mountains
Description: Boulder Mountain is 11316ft high and has a flat summit covering an area of 79 square miles. Its foothills are forested and are traversed by Scenic Byway 12 to the east.
Our rating: The scenery around Boulder Mountain is one of our favorite parts of Scenic Byway 12, and it's actually fun to drive any time of year. We almost had a magical experience in 2011 when we got to see yellow aspens with snow and sunshine. If you're in the area, you definitely shouldn't miss the Scenic Byway 12 because the road is just great.
