Anfahrt im Detail: The access is via the House Rock Valley Road. After turning into Pine Tree Road after 19.9mi, it is best to have a GPS device with a track of the route for the following dirt road maze in the Vermillion Cliffs. On the way many other dirt roads cross and you have to turn off several times. From the BLM in Kanab, the recommended approach is via roads 1017 and 1087. The road conditions vary constantly. It is rocky and sandy. High clearance is definitely necessary. 4×4 depending on the conditions possibly as well. The distance from the junction of House Rock Valley Road to the parking area, is about 15.5mi. The approach is not easy and requires a suitable vehicle in any case.

Description: There are no paths and you can explore the area on your own. The terrain is not flat, you can climb and discover, there is much to enjoy. The great white rocks are interspersed with bright colors. It looks a bit like a big cream pot where someone has just stirred in different colored jams. Behind every corner there are new great formations to discover.

Trail length: approx. 2.5mi roundtrip
Altitude difference: approx. 459ft
Time needed: 3-4 hours
Difficulty level: easy to moderate - Depending on where you climb around the trail is easy or a little harder.

Our rating:: For the White Pockets, in contrast to the Coyote Buttes, you do not (yet) need a permit. Because of the not so easy access, the place is not overcrowded and you are often alone with yourself and nature. It is a great location and definitely worth a visit.
