Charles M. Schulz Museum

Description: The Charles M. Schulz Museum pays tribute to the Peanuts and their creator. Here you can learn everything worth knowing about the cute cartoon characters.

The Peanuts were created by Charles M. Schulz, who was born on 26.11.1922 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He discovered his love for cartoons as a child, when he and his father regularly admired the cartoons in the daily newspaper.

On October 2, 1950, after his time in the military, Charles Schulz published his first comic strip in several national newspapers. From then on, the Peanuts began their unstoppable triumph. Gradually, more characters were added and in 1965, A Charlie Brown Christmas was the first animated Peanuts comic to appear on television.

Nowadays, everyone knows one or the other Peanuts character. You can find them everywhere, whether as comic strips, in films or as advertising characters. When Charles M. Schulz died in Santa Rosa on February 12, 2000, he had long since left his legacy to the world with his Peanuts.

Supported by his wife and family, the Charles M. Schulz Museum opened its doors in Santa Rosa on Aug. 15, 2002.

Our rating: As huge Peanuts fans, it was a given that we had to stop by here when we visit California in September 2019. The museum is totally lovingly designed. You really dive into your childhood. There are hundreds of comic strips that are beautifully presented.  You can experience the history of the Peanuts from the beginning.

We had a lot of fun here and can highly recommend a visit. As a fan, you can easily spend a few hours here and enjoy the many Peanuts memorabilia.

Snoopy´s Home Ice

Description: The Redwood Empire Ice Arena, better known as Snoopy's Home Ice, was built by Charles M. Schulz and opened in 1969. The popular ice arena in Santa Rosa offers all ice sports enthusiasts a chance to have fun on the ice.

Throughout his life, Charles Schulz loved to chat with visitors at the adjoining Warm Puppe Café. Even today, there are flowers at his regular spot. In 2019, the hall underwent its first renovation since its construction.

Our rating: Since we have not really done anything in the ice rink, during our visit in September 2019, we can not really give an assessment. But there are a few of the Peanuts characters, pictures and drawings here, so you can go in, even if you are not there for skating.
