Description: Built in 1909, the pier is one of the most famous attractions in the greater Los Angeles area. In addition to a small amusement park with a Ferris wheel, you can also find numerous stores and restaurants on the pier. On the left and on the right of the pier there is a wide and huge beach. Here is practically always something going on. The pier is also the end of the historic Route 66.

Our rating: Since such busy places are not really our cup of tea, the Santa Monica Pier was never very high on our list. But we always wanted to see the end of Route 66 and so we visited the pier in June 2023. It was ok but there were just too many people around to our liking. Someone who likes amusement parks and hustle and bustle will certainly have fun here.
