Wupatki NM

Description: There are well over 2000 prehistoric sites in the Wupatki NM area. Among others, huge pueblos of the Anasazi have been found. In the 12th century, up to 100 people lived in the largest of the pueblos. Several thousand people probably lived in the surrounding area.

You can hike a few smaller trails during your visit and visit the sites and pueblos.

Our rating: Just like the neighboring Sunset Crater Volcano NM, this National Monument is small but nice. The two can be combined very well for a visit. We also liked the Wupatki NM and can recommend it.
