Sand Dune Arch

Description: The Sand Dune Arch is a large freestanding sandstone arch about 8mi north of Kanab.
To get to the Arch, turn left onto Hancock Rd after about 7.5mi north of Kanab. Follow this road for 0.5mi before turning right onto a sandy track. To find the right turn-off, it is advisable to use the exact GPX coordinates.
If you have a four-wheel drive vehicle, you can drive directly to the arch via this sandy track. However, as the hike to Sand Dune Arch is only a few hundred feet long, you can also leave the car by the road and walk. Simply follow the road. A large hoodoo, which comes into view after just a few feet, serves as a landmark. Shortly afterwards you will come across the arch.

Trail length: approx. 0.5mi roundtrip
Altitude difference: approx. 3 feet
Time needed: 1 hour
Difficulty level: easy

Our rating: The Sand Dune Arch is a free-standing, somewhat unusual arch. Certainly not a must-see, but still a nice little location if you are nearby and have an hour to spare. In contrast to many other places in the southwest, you are probably all alone here and can enjoy nature in peace.
