Muir Woods NM

Muir Woods NM

Description: Muir Woods NM is where a major cluster of the giant coast redwoods were protected. We visited the small NM at our first USA vacation in August 1992. Since we have not been in the area for several years, it has remained our one visit. Therefore we can't really say anything about the current conditions. At that time there was a good walkable, in parts tarred, trail between the redwoods.

Our rating: Our first encounter with these huge trees was of course very impressive. During this vacation, we didn't have the opportunity to visit the Redwood NP further north or the Sequoia NP further east due to time constraints. Therefore, this was a great opportunity for us to see the giant trees anyway. This little NM can perfectly be combined with a visit to San Francisco, if you don't have the chance to see the trees elsewhere.
