General information about the National Park

The park protects the mountainous regions of Mont Notre-Dame and Mont Mégantic, as well as the typical forests and marshlands at the northeastern end of the Appalachian Mountains.

Number of visitors

Approximately xxx visitors visit the park annually.
Best time to visit: Basically, the park can be visited all year round, but the park's facilities will be closed between October 11, 2021 and May 28, 2022. During this time there is no entrance fee. For us, parks that are mainly covered by forest are especially interesting in autumn when the leaves change color.

Chute

Cap Bon-Ami

Chute

Description: The trail to the 17m high waterfall leads down into a small valley. Here you walk along a small stream and reach the waterfall after a short time. On the way there are a few steeper steps to overcome, but generally the trail is easy to hike and well built.

Trail length: 1km round trip
Altitude difference: 40m
Time needed: 1 hour
Difficulty level: easy

Our rating: We were at the waterfall shortly after the park closed in October 2021. Probably for this reason there was nothing going on here and we had the trail almost to ourselves. This contributed significantly to the beautiful experience, because it was really enjoyable to hike the short trail through a pretty autumn forest.

Cap Bon-Ami

Description: You can find Cap Bon-Ami at the end of the northern park road. It offers hiking trails and beautiful viewpoints of spectacular cliffs, the ocean and, with luck, its inhabitants.

Our rating: Sadly, during our visit in October 2021, the weather was not so nice. Nevertheless, we liked it here quite well and we can definitely recommend a visit. If you want to enjoy nature in peace, you are very well off here.
