Mississagi River

Description: The Mississagi River is 266 km long and empties into Lake Huron at Blind River. In the Ojibwe language, its name means “river with a wide mouth.” They mainly use the river as a transport route to carry goods from the forests in the north to Lake Huron.

Our rating: We ended up in the Mississagi River area rather by chance on our 2025 road trip because we didn't want to take the Trans-Canada Highway on our way from Wawa to Sudbury. We really liked it there, especially because of the many colorful trees. Since it was off the main traffic route and not very busy, we were able to enjoy the beautiful landscape to the fullest.
