Edmonton

Alberta

Our visits: So far 1 visit in June 1998

Description: Edmonton was founded in 1902 as a stop on the Yucon and Pacific Railway. Today it is the capital of the province of Alberta. Even though it is one of the largest cities in North America in terms of area, the population density is very low. With just under 1 million inhabitants, it is only the second largest city in Alberta, following Calgary.

Our rating: Actually, we can't really give a rating because we were in town mainly for the West Edmonton Mall.

West Edmonton Mall

Description: Until 2004, the West Edmonton Mall was the largest shopping center in the world. Here there are not only hundreds of stores but also an IMAX, an ice skating rink, an aquarium, an amusement park, a water park and several hotels. In principle, you could spend a two-week vacation here without having to go outside once.

For the GPS: 8882 170 St NW, Edmonton

Our rating: We spent a whole day in the mall and didn't even come close to seeing everything. We were overwhelmed by the sheer amount of what was offered. If you like huge malls, you will love it here.
