Mont Royal

Description: Mont Royal is a prominent, 233m high hill, in the middle of the city. The Mont Royal Park is the largest green area in the city and offers many opportunities for recreation. The terrace of Chalet Mont Royal offers a great view of downtown Montreal. The terrace can be reached via a short, more or less flat footpath. If you want to get a little more exercise, you can also take the several 100 steps directly out of the city.

For the GPS: 11088 Remembrance Rd, Montreal (Parkplatz zur Aussichtsterrasse)

Our rating: Because the terrace has a southeastern orientation, you always have a little backlight here. The best time is probably at sunset. For us, it didn't matter, which is why we were there in the morning. The Mont Royal is an oasis in the middle of the city. For us, it is a must when you visit the city.

Le Plateau-Mont-Royal

Description: Le Plateau-Mont-Royal is a neighborhood northeast of Mont Royal. You won't find any spectacular sights here but a residential area with many pretty Victorian houses, nice little stores and cozy cafes and restaurants.

Our rating: We really liked the walk around the Square Saint-Louis. Here you can find tranquility and a relaxed, very pleasant neighborhood.

Île-Sainte-Hèléne

Description: île-Sainte-Hèléne is located to the east of downtown Montreal, in the Saint Lawrence Stream. The island is three kilometers long and up to 600m wide. One of the island's attractions is the Biosphere, created for Expo '67. This now houses an environmental museum. But the island has much more to offer. Among other things, you can still find an amusement park and the street circuit of the Formula 1 in Montreal here. Because of its location, you also have a great view of the city's skyscrapers.

Our rating: We visited the island in October 2021. Since we had caught a day with beautiful sunshine, we rather stayed outside, went for a walk and enjoyed the view. If you are looking for a little distance from the hustle and bustle of the city, you will certainly find what you are looking for here.

Lìnfini

Description: One thing in advance. Unfortunately, Lìnfini no longer exists in Montreal. It was a temporary virtual reality immersion where you could experience life on the ISS space station up close.

For the GPS: 2020 William St, Montreal

Our rating: In contrast to "Oasis", we found this VR experience really great. Even though the goggles took a bit of getting used to at first, the whole experience was a lot of fun.
