Midway Geyser Basin

Description: The Midway Geyser Basin can be explored via a planked, about 1mi long trail. After crossing the Firehole River, you first reach two smaller, but very pretty colored pools. Shortly after that you reach the largest hot spring of the park, the Grand Prismatic Spring. From here you can already see how great it looks. A cool overview from above, however, you have from the Grand Prismatic Spring Overlook, which you can reach via the Fairy Falls Trailhead .

After you have admired the Grand Prismatic Spring enough, there is still a huge geyser to see. Here, the turquoise, clear water is especially striking.

Our rating: The Midway Geyser Basin is small but nice. Especially the very colorful Grand Prismatic Spring is great, but the view from above is much more impressive. Here you should stop at a Yellowstone visit in any case.
