If you want to visit more than one state park, you might also want to buy an annual pass. This pass costs $30 and entitles you to enter all of Washington's state parks throughout the year. The Discover Pass, can be ordered online here.

Palouse Falls SP

Description: Palouse Falls plunges 196ft into the depths of the canyon formed by the Missoula floods at the end of the last ice age. The park was established as a state park in 1951 and protects the waterfall and the surrounding basalt cliffs. There is a short trail along the Rim that allows you to view the waterfall from three different overlooks. There is another, longer trail in the park, but we did not hike it.

Our rating: Unfortunately, our visit was not at the right time of day, because in the morning the waterfall was still totally in the shade. The light conditions are certainly a little better in the afternoon. Nevertheless, we thought the waterfall and the surrounding canyon were very worth seeing. The waterfall carries the most water in spring and summer and is therefore most impressive in these seasons. In our opinion, you certainly can plan a visit here.
