Hayden Valley

Description: The wide valley between the canyon and Yellowstone Lake was named after Ferdinand V. Hayden. The geologist led several expeditions to Yellowstone NP. Along the Yellowstone River you can observe numerous animals in the wild.

Our rating: During our visits we were rather disappointed by the animal sightings here. Maybe we were always just at the wrong place at the wrong time. Probably you just have to invest more time and wait. So the Valley seems to be a good place to see the wolves of the park. However, the spotters with their binoculars often spend the whole day here without seeing a wolf....
