Fairy Falls Trailhead

Description: In addition to Fairy Falls, the trailhead also leads to one of the most amazing features in Yellowstone NP. Since 2017, there is an overlook over the Grand Prismatic Spring in the neighboring Midway Geyser Basin. This great pool, shining in all rainbow colors, offers a great photo motif from above. So that not everyone climbs somewhere up the slope, a path and an official Overlook was created.
This can be reached from the trailhead via a short 1mi trail. The trail first runs level next to the western edge of Midway Geyser Basin before climbing a hill to the overlook. The trail is well maintained and easy to hike.
If you want to hike to the overlook, you should note that this is an extremely popular trail and there is only a very limited amount of parking here. You may need to make several attempts and wait quite a while before you get a parking spot. Also, keep in mind that the water in the pool is warm, so if the outside temperature is colder, for example in the morning, there may be a lot of fog at the pool. So if you are here too early in the morning, you may not see much of the beautiful colors of the pool because of the steam.

You can also explore the pool from below and walk around between the pools. Midway Geyser Basin

Our rating: An absolute must see in the park. The view of the huge, colorful pool is simply breathtaking.
