Virginia City

Description: The city was founded in 1863 when gold was found nearby. Many came to try their luck and so Virginia City developed into the center of the region between 1865 and 1875. In the 1940s, efforts began to preserve the historic buildings, and so today Virginia City remains a testament to life in the gold rush era. 

Our rating: Quite nice little town where you can easily make a small stop. There are a few pretty stores and buildings to admire. We thoroughly enjoyed the short visit.
