Rund um New Braunfels

Description: New Braunfels was founded in 1845 by immigrants of German origin. To commemorate their German roots, the residents always celebrate the Wurstfest in November. This is reminiscent of Munich's Oktoberfest and is known far beyond the city limits.

Gruene is located in the northwest of the city and has been designated a Historic District. The small village is home to the Dance Hall, built in 1878. It is the oldest dance hall still in operation in Texas.

North of the city is Canyon Lake, a large reservoir created by damming the Guadalupe River. Another attraction is located south of the reservoir with the Heritage Museum. Here you can find real dinosaur tracks, which are protected underneath a huge roof.

Our rating: We were very lucky to be able to spend this day in New Braunfels with a friend who lives in the city and let him show us his favorite places. Today the whole day was the highlight, it was a lot of fun for us to be on the trail of the German immigrants in Texas.
