Fredericksburg

Description: Fredericksburg was founded in 1846 by Otfried Hans Freiherr von Meusebach, a German native. He named the town after Prince Frederick of Prussia. Subsequently, the city attracted many German emigrants who settled here permanently. German culture and tradition is still maintained today and, for example, an Oktoberfest is celebrated every year. An additional peculiarity is that in 1847 the citizens of Fredericksburg concluded the only never-broken contract with the Comanche living here.

Our rating: Fredericksburg is a nice little German-American town. It's all very touristy, but still fun to take a little stroll along the main street. If you like to eat a "Schweinebraten" on your American vacation, you should definitely come here.
