Luckenbach

Description: Luckenbach is a small settlement about 12.4mi southeast of Fredericksburg. The village was founded in 1849 by several German-born migrants, including the Luckenbach family. They settled along Grape Creek. In 1904, 492 people lived here.

Subsequently, however, Luckenbach became a ghost town until 1960. In 1970 Hondo Crouch bought the place with three inhabitants for 30000$. He revived the dance hall, saloon and store and the place became a very popular place especially for country music lovers. Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson set a musical tribute to the place in 1977 with the song  Luckenbach, Texas . Since then, countless famous or less famous artists have performed here.  Thus, Luckenbach has remained a popular venue, with Wild West charm, to this day.

Our rating:  We visited Luckenbach in March 2018. Unfortunately, there was not much going on during our visit and so we really had the Ghosttown impression of the place. However, there was a small concert in the evening and so we could get a small impression of what a nice atmosphere exists here when a really big concert takes place outdoors. We can recommend a visit here anyway.
