Angel Oak

Description: Located in the southwestern part of the city of Charleston, the Angel Oak is one of the oldest oak trees in the world. Its age is estimated to be between 400 and 500 years. During Hurricane Hugo in 1989, the giant oak was very badly damaged and has been slowly recovering ever since. Since 1991, the tree and grounds have been owned by the City of Charleston.

Our rating: Trees are just great plants and this one is really something special. The tree is over 66ft high and its branches spread out in a huge circle. We really liked it here and highly recommend a visit.
