Leonard Harrison SP

Description: Leonard Harrison SP is located on the east side of Pine Creek Gorge. It was established in 1922 and is managed along with its little brother, the Colton Point SP, on the west side of the Creek. The Salt Creek Gorge is also called the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. It is 240m deep and up to 1200m wide. There are numerous recreational opportunities and especially in the fall you have great views at the colorful forests on the slopes of the Creek.

Our rating: We visited the Leonard Harrison SP in the fall of 2008 and 2010. Especially in 2010 there were still some colorful trees to admire on the slopes. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit overcast, so the bright colors didn't shine quite as great. Nevertheless, we liked the park very much, because it was not overcrowded and you could wonderfully relaxed and quietly wander through the colorful forests.
