Our tops

Our favorites from a wide variety of places we've visited

Since it is often very difficult to pick our tops in the abundance of great places we have visited, our ranking should no longer represent an additional rating. Our tops are therefore equally our favorites.

Our Top 5 National Parks

Here we especially love the variety. Not only the geothermal features like geysers and pools are great, but also the many wild animals that you can observe here in their natural environment.

Here we love especially the dimensions of the sand dunes. It is an unreal experience to stand on the dunes and around you there is nothing but a gigantic amount of sand.

What more can be said about the Grand Canyon than that it is simply amazing. However, we could only understand the extent a little better when we hiked down for the first time.

A great national park in the northwest of the country. Here, too, we found it very varied. We especially liked the hikes.

For us, Arches NP is one of the greatest parks in the southwest. Unfortunately, the number of visitors has increased enormously in recent years, but we still love these gigantic stone arches.

Our top 5 cities

We love Chicago because to us the city is not as stressful as other big cities. You have everything you'd expect from a big city, plus the great location on Lake Michigan.

San Antonio is perhaps a rather unusual choice, but we felt very comfortable in the city. Not necessarily because there are a lot of top sights but simply because we liked the atmosphere.

San Francisco is by far our favorite city in the Southwest. The great location at the Golden Gate, the many attractions you can reach almost all on foot... A small downer are the enormously increased prices to stay in the city. Otherwise, there is nothing to complain about.

In Santa Fe, we especially like the Old Town with its many adobe houses. There are countless great spots to discover here. We love walking around and discovering the city.

Boston the city with history. Here, too, we especially like the fact that the city does not radiate any hustle and bustle. It is simply fun to stroll through the streets and discover the attractions.

Our top 5 hikes

A huge hype has arisen around the Wave in recent years. For us, however, not only the wave itself is great, but also the entire hike and surroundings.

Although the hike is quite long and strenuous, it is worth every drop of sweat. Again, not only is the destination great, but the entire trail is spectacular and awesome. Unfortunately, the trail out of the valley is closed at the moment (March 2021), after a rock fall in 2019.

Admittedly, we were very lucky when we hiked this trail. The weather was great, spring flowers were blooming everywhere and the view was simply breathtaking. Here, too, every drop of sweat is worth it.

Even if you don't want to hike the entire trail down to the Colorado, this trail is just breathtaking and awesome.

Here the trail itself is perhaps not very spectacular, but the finale compensates for everything. The sight of Delicate Arch, which is like on a stage when the curtain rises, is simply indescribable.
