Day Activity of the day Day remarks Overnight stay Miles
Day 1
Arrival and trip to Woodstock
There's definitely something to be said for a nonstop flight. Getting from start to finish without changing planes is really relaxing.
Hampton Inn Atlanta Woodstock, Atlanta/Georgia ***
47mi
Day 2
Gresham's Mill can only be seen from the road. In the whole area the foliage is still as good as not in color. Good that we are there again in two weeks.
Hampton Inn, Sevierville, Tennessee ***

Day 3
In the higher elevations of the Foothills Parkway, there are already beautifully discolored leaves.
Hampton Inn Nashville-I-24 Hickory Hollow, Nashville, Tennessee ***
307mi
Day 4
The highlight of the day is definitely the pubs and live music that line Broadway. Even in the afternoon, we really enjoyed all the artists and bands.
Hampton Inn Nashville-I-24 Hickory Hollow, Nashville, Tennessee ***

Day 5
Unfortunately, it rains almost all day today, good that there are interesting museums in Memphis.
Hampton Inn Memphis-Poplar, Memphis/Tennessee ***
30mi
Day 6
Graceland is very interesting. After 1994, this was our second visit and that's enough.
Best Western Plus Tupelo Inn & Suites, Tupelo/Mississippi****
30mi
Day 7
Nice varied day. Especially after the cities, a little nature is great.
Hampton Inn & Suites Montgomery East Chase, Montgomery/Alabama ****
274mi
Day 8
Southern houses and a great canyon, which you would not expect in this area. During our visit, all public facilities such as the Visitor Center are closed. But the trails are open and that's enough for us.
Best Western Bradbury Inn & Suites, Perry/Georgia ***
201mi
Day 9
Actually we wanted to see the Fort Pulaski NM, but it was flooded by the hurricane that passed through here two weeks before.
Hampton Inn Savannah - I95 Richmond Hill, Savannah/Georgia ****
344mi
Day 10
Since we only have the one day, we take a hop-on/hop-off bus in Savannah to see as much of the city as possible. Even here in the city, the storm damage is still visible. Bonaventure Cemetery is also closed due to fallen trees.
Hampton Inn Savannah - I95 Richmond Hill, Savannah/Georgia ****

Day 11
The highlight today was the Old Sheldon Church. We liked the old dilapidated church in the middle of the forest very much.
Hampton Inn & Suites Charleston/West Ashley, Charleston/South Carolina ***
184mi
Day 12
We liked Middleton Place because it's not a whole typical plantation.
Hampton Inn & Suites Charleston/West Ashley, Charleston/South Carolina ***
35mi
Day 13
A long drive and a huge detour for a Hard Rock Café that is then in a new location.
Best Western Executive Inn & Suites, Columbia/South Carolina ***
268mi
Day 14
Great weather and great leaf color.
Best Western Plaza Inn, Pigeon Forge/Tennessee ***
268mi
Day 15
It's good weather and the park is not only full, it's overflowing. On the Cades Cove Road it goes only at a snail's pace and that into the night. Simply madness and that's no fun.
Best Western Plaza Inn, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee ***
268mi
Day 16
The leaves at the Foothills Parkway are for the most part already Past Peak, but that does not surprise us, because it was already very beautifully colored two weeks ago. At the Georgia Aquarium a private event is taking place and therefore we can not look at the big tank. Since that was the actual reason to visit the aquarium, we find this really annoying - especially because no one said so at the entrance.
Hilton Garden Inn Atlanta Downtown, Atlanta/Georgia ****
234mi
Day 17
Coca Cola is in a new place than we were here the first time in 1994. Unlike Graceland, however, I could go here more often. The coolest part is the Fountain, where you can "enjoy" the Coke specialties from all over the world and some are really strange.
