This was our first trip together that we took in 1994 to celebrate our honeymoon. In the 90s, unfortunately, we did not make so many notes about our trip. Many of the things we did have changed in the meantime. Some of the hotels we stayed in don't exist anymore and therefore an evaluation after more than 20 years doesn't make much sense. So here is only the route with the places where we stayed.
Tour memories
In retrospect, one thing can be said about this tour: we would never do such a tour again. To drive across the USA in 5 weeks is like trying to travel all of Europe in five days.
However, it was great that we have been able to see a lot and get an idea of what we wanted to see in the future more thoroughly. Since we were at the highlights hardly more than half a day, it has also really mostly only enough for a first impression. For hiking, which we now do a lot, was almost no time. But we were young and there you can cope with a little stress much better. Despite the very long distances, the very many impressions, which one could hardly process on the way, it was a great trip. To this day, our first trip has also remained by far our longest.
