Magnificent Mile

Description: Michigan Avenue north of the Chicago River is called the Magnificent Mile. Here you can find a lot of exclusive stores, restaurants, theaters and museums. The street invites you to take a stroll at any time of the day or year.

Just after crossing the river in a northerly direction, you will find the Chigago Tribune building on the right. The skyscraper, which was built in 1925 in neo-Gothic style, has a special feature on its facade. It features stones from other famous buildings from all over the world. (Photos of the stones can be found in the image box below).

In addition, the Old Water Tower, one of the city's landmarks, is located on the boulevard. Built in 1869, the tower is now home to the Tourist Information.

Our rating: Although we are not the big shoppers , it is quite nice to walk along such a promenade, especially here in Chicago. Besides the countless stores, there are also some great buildings to discover. We were especially impressed by the stones in the facade of the Chicago Tribune. Whoever comes to Chicago will surely pass by here. We liked it.
