underline;\"><strong>Beschreibung:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Die Hole in the Rock Road (HitRR) wurde 1879 von Anh\u00e4ngern der Kirche Jesu Christi der Heiligen der letzen Tage angelegt. Da die Anf\u00fchrer beschlossen neue Gebiete zu besiedeln, startete eine Expedition, um geeignete Routen zu diesen neuen Siedlungsgebieten zu finden. Bei dieser Expedition wurde ein Felsdurchgang gefunden, der einen Zugang zum Colorado erm\u00f6glichte. Diesen Spalt nannten die Siedler <em>Hole in the Rock<\/em>. Es dauerte allerdings mehrere Monate, den Weg f\u00fcr die Siedler, das Vieh und die Wagen nutzbar zu machen. Auf mehreren Umwegen gelangten die Siedler 1880 schlie\u00dflich an ihr angedachtes Ziel und gr\u00fcndeten den Ort Bluff. Da wenig sp\u00e4ter eine einfachere Route entdeckt wurde, um den Colorado zu \u00fcberqueren (beim heutigen Halls Crossing), geriet der Hole in the Rock Trail zunehmend in Vergessenheit.\u00a0<\/p><p>Erst als der Lake Powell entstand und immer mehr Menschen das Gebiet touristisch nutzen, gewann die Hole in the Rock Road wieder zunehmend an Bedeutung.\u00a0<\/p><p>Die heutige Stra\u00dfe ist rund 99km lang und durchgehend ungeteert. Sie hat zahlreiche Nebenstrecken, die zu vielen tollen Zielen im Grand Staircase Escalante NM und der Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Zugang bieten. Bei Trockenheit ist die Stra\u00dfe meist in einem guten Zustand. F\u00fcr die letzten 11km bis zum Hole in the Rock werden 4-Rad-Antrieb und hohe Bodenfreiheit empfohlen.\u00a0 \u00dcber den Zustand der Stra\u00dfe kann man sich im Visitor Center des BLM in Escalante erkundigen.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Unsere Bewertung:<\/strong><\/span> Die Stra\u00dfe an sich ist nicht besonders aufregend. Da wir im Juni 2023 einen Jeep Wrangler mit 4-Rad Antrieb hatten, wollten wir uns die letzten 11.3km der Stra\u00dfe mal ansehen.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Unsere Bewertung:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 Die Stra\u00dfe ist hier viel rauer, steiniger, steiler und teilweise auch sandiger. Hohe Bodenfreiheit ist auf jeden Fall notwendig und an manchen Stellen ist auch ein 4-Rad-Anrieb sehr hilfreich. Die Stra\u00dfe ist in diesem Bereich weit von der, meist in gutem Zustand gehaltenen, Hole in the Rock Road entfernt.
