style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Beschreibung:<\/strong><\/span> Um 1715 errichtete Le Marchand de Lignery f\u00fcr die Franzosen das Fort Michilimackinac an der Stelle der ehemaligen Jesuitenmission. W\u00e4hrend der n\u00e4chsten f\u00fcnfzig Jahre, als Frankreich und Gro\u00dfbritannien um die Kontrolle \u00fcber den Pelzhandel in der Region der Gro\u00dfen Seen k\u00e4mpften, expandierte das Fort als Handelsniederlassung und Milit\u00e4rposten. Bald nach Beendigung der Feindseligkeiten im Franzosen- und Indianerkrieg \u00fcbernahmen die Briten im Herbst 1761 die Kontrolle \u00fcber das Fort. Zwei Jahre sp\u00e4ter eroberten einheimische Chippewa (Ojibwa), ver\u00e4rgert \u00fcber die britische Politik, das Fort im Rahmen des Pontiac-Aufstands. Die Briten erlangten 1764 die Kontrolle zur\u00fcck. Zwischen 1779 und 1781, w\u00e4hrend der Amerikanischen Revolution, errichteten die Briten Fort Mackinac auf der nahe gelegenen Mackinac Island und gaben Fort Michilimackinac auf. Das britische Milit\u00e4r verlie\u00df Michilimackinac 1781 und brannte es nieder. Im Jahr 1959 begannen professionelle Arch\u00e4ologen mit der Untersuchung des Gel\u00e4ndes. Wir fanden es sehr informativ und interessant gestaltet.
