Newspaper Rock

Description: Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument is a 205.5-square-feet sandstone rock that features one of the largest known collections of petroglyphs in the world. Newspaper Rock is located about 16mi west of the junction of Highway 211 from Highway 191 in Utah. If you continue west on Hwy 211, you will enter the Needles District of the Canyonlands NP.

Our rating: Assuming that all these petroglyphs are really real, it is very impressive how many of them you can admire here and especially how well they are preserved. The first of the more than hundred petroglyphs are said to have been made more than 2000 years ago. Since the access is very easy and costs almost no time, you should definitely have a look at Newspaper Rock on a southwest tour.
