Lick Wash

Description: You reach the Lick Wash via the unpaved Skutumpah Rd. The approach from Johnson Canyon Rd. (paved) is 15mi long. Before you start the drive you should definitely check the road conditions . Lick Wash is one of the drains of Lower Podunk Creek. Water is present only during and after rainfall. In the course of time the water formed Lick Wash and the associated small canyon. On the first mile it is relatively narrow and gets wider afterwards. In total the Lick Wash is 3.75mi long and then leads into Park Wash. Basically the way is flat and easy to walk. After a few hundred feet you have to climb over a large rock that blocks the way.

Trail length: 0 - 3.75mi
Altitude difference: Depending on the path length
Time needed: Depending on the path length
Difficulty level: easy

Our rating: We visited the Lick Wash in April 2022. Skutumpah Rd. was freshly graded and very easy to drive. You could have gotten to the trailhead in any passenger car. We walked along the wash for about 1.5mi as we were mainly interested in the narrower part of the canyon. We liked it quite well to explore the beautiful nature especially because we had the small canyon all to ourselves.
