Belly of the Dragon

Description: The Belly of the Dragon is an adventurous, scenic little hike. The man-made tunnel runs under Highway 89 and serves as a drain for the upper canyons that flow into the North Fork River. For this reason, the tunnel should not be entered when it is raining. To get into the tunnel, you have to climb down a medium-sized stone step. In some places the tunnel is very dark and the surface is very uneven, so a flashlight is useful

Our rating: Not an must-see. The indirect light and the glowing sandstone make for some nice photo opportunities. However, there are certainly much better places around Kanab where you can spend your time.
