Forever Marilyn

Description: Forever Marilyn is one of the most famous sculptures by American artist Seward Johnson. After standing in several locations over the years, it returned permanently to Palm Springs in 2019. Here, the nearly 26feet tall statue stands in front of the Palm Springs Art Museum.
The sculpture recreates the famous scene from the movie - The Seven Year Itch - in which Marilyn's white dress is blown up over a subway air shaft.

Our rating: As a fan of Seward Johnson, I always wanted to see the statue of Marilyn Monroe for myself. Unfortunately, she was not in town during our first visit to Palm Springs. That's why we took the opportunity to pay Marilyn a visit in June 2023. Sculptures may not be everyone's cup of tea, but for me the visit was worth every detour.

Historical Society

Description: Around a small square in the middle of Palm Springs you can see some of the city's historic buildings. The McCallum Adobe, built in 1884, and the Cornelia White House, built in 1893, are the two oldest buildings in Palm Springs. In Ruddy's General Store you can experience a supermarket from 1930.

Our rating: Unfortunately, everything was closed during our visit in June 2023. We could only look at the buildings from the outside. So an evaluation is very difficult. Should we ever be in Palm Springs again, we may have more luck.
